Glass Outhouse Gallery
Glass Outhouse Gallery is a quirky, offbeat art spot in Twentynine Palms where creativity runs wild. Showcasing local and regional artists, the gallery features everything from bold paintings and photography to inventive mixed media pieces. With its fun, unconventional vibe—and yes, there’s a glass outhouse, fully functional—it’s the perfect place to explore unique desert-inspired art, meet the makers, and support the local creative scene.
Famous Crochet Museum
The Crochet Museum sits in a lime-green drive-thru photo booth out on the highway in Joshua Tree, looking like a kid’s toy box that someone forgot to put away. Shari Elf, a local artist with a serious yarn habit, has stuffed every inch of the place with crocheted critters, granny-square oddities, and whatever strange textile treasures people have mailed her from across the planet. It’s half folk-art explosion, half time capsule, and 100% desert weird.
Compound Yucca Valley
Compound Yucca Valley is Yucca Valley’s buzzy, artist-run art hub where the high desert actually feels alive. It started in 2018 in an old storefront on 29 Palms Hwy and has since become a space dedicated to immersive, experimental work from artists at all stages of their careers — from emerging makers to seasoned locals. They host four curated exhibitions each year, plus group shows, solo artists, performances, talks, and even a podcast where creatives share stories behind the work — all free or low cost and open to the public. Whether it’s a bold new installation that gets you thinking about identity or land, or a chill weekend walk‑through with friends, Compound YV is built around connecting people through art — not just selling pieces.
MOFO by HiDE
Mojave Fotografía is a 1,000 square foot space in 29 Palms dedicated to the art of photography and the mojave desert. The gallery will open this Spring for Saturday visitors and during the week by appointment. MOFO is the passion project of HiDE co-founder, Eric Berry. Eric has spent 25-years photographing people and places all over the world with his work appearing on CNN, the LA Times, Atlas Obscura and TripAdvisor.
